MELANOPRO

WHAT IS IT?

The Melanopro Peel is a professional-grade chemical peel designed to target pigmentation issues like melasma, post inflammatory pigment, dull skin & pigment spots.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Step one is conducted in-clinic, followed by 6 weeks of at home skin care.

The peel masque contains key ingredients to optimise pigmentation removal, including:

Azelaic Acid which acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor, reducing melanin production while gently exfoliating the skin to speed up cell turnover and remove dull surface layers.

Tranexamic Acid that effectively reduces hyperpigmentation by inhibiting an enzyme crucial to melanin production, promoting a more uniform complexion.

Salicylic Acid which penetrates the skin’s lipid barrier, loosening the bonds between cells to encourage the shedding of dead skin, resulting in smoother, more even-toned skin.

Glycolic and Lactic Acids, which disrupt the cohesion between skin cells to exfoliate the outer layers and provide moisturising benefits.

Retinol, a potent form of Vitamin A, enhances cell turnover and reduces melanin synthesis, leading to a brighter, more even skin tone.

Niacinamide which prevents melanin from reaching the skin’s surface by inhibiting the transfer of melanin-containing melanosomes to keratinocytes, reducing dark spots and uneven tone.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-1, a depigmenting peptide, which decreases melanin production and transfer, contributing to a more even complexion

TREATMENT INFORMATION

what to expect

An initial consultation is required to discuss your skin concerns and treatment goals. This is to ensure the appropriate peel and treatment plan is selected.

For advanced peels, it is vital to adhere to the personalised skin protocol prior to your peel.

You will be advised on specific skincare products to use at home for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment to prepare your skin.

During the in-clinic treatment, the Melanopro depigmenting masque is applied to the skin. This mask is left on for a specific number of hours (4-7), depending on the treatment plan and skin type, then washed off at home.

Each treatment includes a post treatment kit to use for the 6 weeks. Regular reviews are required in this timeframe to ensure that your skin is healing optimally.

post-treatment

At home, the masque is gently removed with cold or lukewarm water, avoiding any heavy friction.

Thereafter, you will need to follow a strict at-home skincare regimen using the Continuous Resurfacing Cream daily and Ultracalming Mist as and when needed, to continue the depigmentation process.

Sunscreen and moisturisers are also recommended to protect the skin and enhance results.

results

Initial improvements are often visible within the first and second week, in which the skin will feel smoother. From week 3 onwards, pigment should begin to brighten, with maximal results by week 6.

Melanopro is designed to reduce, not eliminate pigmentation. Consistent use of the at-home maintenance products is essential to achieve optimal, long-lasting results. While the effects are generally long-term, pigmentation may return due to factors like sun exposure, pregnancy, or medication, in which case repeating the treatment program may be beneficial.

Suitability

This treatment is suitable for all skin tones, but unfortunately not suitable in pregnancy.

The system is not advised with those with highly sensitive skin, or those who have skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema, etc.

Downtime

There is very little downtime with this treatment, however flaking and peeling can be expected for 2-3 days after the masque application.

side effects

Side effects may include a mild itch, tightness, peeling, swelling, burning and redness that settles within 3-4 days of the peel.

Treatment Frequency

For optimal results, most patients will require 1 treatment followed by an ‘at-home’ skin maintenance programme for a minimum of 6 weeks.

This treatment is repeatable every 6 months.
