Mounjaro is a prescription only medicine indicated for the treatment of adults with insufficiently controlled Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise, as monotherapy, or in addition to other medicinal products.

Mounjaro is also indicated for weight management in conjunction with dietary measures and increased physical activity in individuals with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or more, or in individuals with a BMI of 27 kg/m² or more in the presence of at least one weight-related co-morbidity (e.g., Hypertension, Dyslipidaemia, Obstructive sleep apnoea, Cardiovascular Disease, Prediabetes, or Type 2 Diabetes mellitus).

DETAILS

Mounjaro is an injectable prescription medicine that is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Mounjaro helps your body both regulate blood sugar and decrease how much food you eat. It may start working to lower blood sugar from the first dose. It helps to release insulin when blood sugar is high, remove excess sugar from the blood, stop the liver from making and releasing too much sugar, reduce how much food is eaten and slow down how quickly food leaves the stomach - this lessens over time.

It is not known if Mounjaro can be used in people who have had pancreatitis. Mounjaro is not for use in people with type 1 diabetes. It is not known if Mounjaro is safe and effective for use in children under 18 years of age.

The 2.5 mg starting dose is not meant for blood sugar control..

USE

Use Mounjaro 1 time each week, at any time of the day.

If you want to change the day of the week you take your dose, make sure there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses.

If you miss a dose of Mounjaro, take the missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day. Do not take 2 doses of Mounjaro within 3 days of each other.
